EDGE certification

The EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) green building certification, awarded by the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), is a testament to ADCB Egypt’s commitment to sustainability. EDGE is a green building certification system developed by the International Finance Corporation  (IFC) and managed by the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), aimed at driving energy, water, and material efficiency in buildings to ensure meeting high environmental performance standards. EDGE certification is available at various levels—Certified, EDGE Advanced, and EDGE Champion—and helps building owners reduce operational costs, enhance asset value, and contribute to global sustainability agenda.

Through 2024, ADCB-E was able to qualify ten of our branches, eight in Cairo, one in Alexandria, and one in Assiut, along with our headquarter, representing 21% of our premises in Egypt –to be EDGE certified reducing embodied carbon in materials up to %100 which has a major impact on our carbon footprint.

This initiative aligns with ADCB Egypt’s broader sustainability goals, supporting both Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting affordable and clean energy, sustainable cities, and climate action. The bank’s focus on expanding its green building practices reflects its long-term strategy to foster a more sustainable banking environment, contributing to national economic and environmental goals. By embracing energy efficiency and resource optimization, ADCB Egypt leads by example in integrating sustainability into its operations, helping drive positive environmental impact across the nation. This certification also supports the growing demand for green infrastructure in Egypt, creating a ripple effect that encourages other sectors to adopt similar practices.
