Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank Signs EGP 10m Cooperation Protocol With Ahl Masr Hospital to Cover the Treatment Costs of Burn Injuries for Three Years

One of the most prominent banks in Egypt, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank – Egypt (ADCB-Egypt), signed a three-year cooperation protocol worth EGP 10m to support the Ahl Masr Hospital. The protocol comes as part of ADCB- Egypt’s ongoing efforts to support social development and enhance the quality of life of the Egyptian citizens.

The signing of the cooperation protocol took place during a meeting between Dr. Heba Al-Suwaidi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Ahl Masr Foundation for Development, Dr. Nevin El-Messiri, CEO of the Ahl Masr Foundation for Development, and Mr. Ihab El-Swerky, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank – Egypt. Both parties discussed interests in supporting burn injuries and aspects of cooperation in equipping the hospital. The cooperation protocol is a stepping stone for supporting Ahl Masr Hospital in treating burns free of charge.

On his part, Mr. Ihab El Swerky, the Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank – Egypt, said that the bank strives to be a pioneer across the nation. ADCB-Egypt solves an array of the most pressing social issues through direct efforts or indirectly via partnering with civil and social institutions to achieve sustainable development in line with the national sustainable development strategy, Egypt vision 2030.

He further explained that ADCB – Egypt upholds corporate social responsibility as a high priority mission, reflected by ADCB’s participation in several vital activities in this field, including disbursing EGP 12m to Tahya Misr Fund. The funds were aimed at easing COVID-19 repercussions on affected social segments since the outbreak of the pandemic.

On her part, Dr. Heba Al-Suwaidi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Ahl Masr Foundation for Development said: “Ahl Masr Foundation praises the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) for its support. It is not the first cooperation between us, and we look forward to more cooperation to contribute to completing the equipment of the Ahl Masr Hospital to treat burns free of charge.”

On her part, Dr. Nevin El-Mesiri, CEO of the Ahl Masr Foundation for Development, praised ADCB’s efforts. She further pointed out that this is not strange for the bank as it plays a vital social role in the health, educational and social fields. This collaboration will resonate with large institutions and drive further engagement.

El-Mesiri noted that the campaign is not solely aimed at immortalizing a name. It will also raise awareness of the risks of burn injuries among Egyptians. She further stressed that these donations will better equip the Ahl Masr Hospital, which plays an active role in treating burn victims in Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa.

It is worth noting that the role of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank is comprehensive and did not focus on supporting the health sector only. The bank’s efforts extended to include developing the labor market, Supporting the elderly, orphaned children and their dependents, preserving the environment, rationalizing energy consumption and, minimizing carbon emissions, all of which affirm the bank’s keenness to achieve sustainable development and social welfare.

Ahl Masr Foundation for Development is a non-profit organization established in 2013 as a non-governmental organization under the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity and subject to Egyptian law. Ahl Masr Foundation for Development aims to provide free medical and psychological treatment and care for burn victims. The Foundation is developing the first specialized hospital to treat burn accidents free of charge, designed with a capacity of 201 beds, and provides 300,000 medical services, and raises awareness among more than 5 million people a year.
