As part of its strategy for sustainability, women’s empowerment, and enhancing their role in society, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank – Egypt has joined the Financial Alliance for Women, becoming the only bank in the Egyptian banking sector to achieve this milestone. It joins a selected group of financial institutions that have joined the alliance around the world. This comes as a reaffirmation of the bank’s role and continuous efforts to achieve and enhance financial inclusion, especially for women, and its endeavor to provide them with more support and innovative solutions that meet women’s aspirations and enhance their ability to manage their financial responsibilities efficiently, with the aim of raising the level of their economic participation in Egyptian society. This also comes in line with the state’s direction, the Central Bank’s strategy for financial inclusion, its identification of target groups, the National Strategy for Sustainable Development, Egypt’s Vision 2030, and the global sustainable development goals, particularly Goal number 5 related to gender equality and Goal number 8 related to appropriate work and economic growth.

The Women’s Financial Alliance brings together financial institutions from more than 160 countries to support women’s access to capital, information, education, and markets. It strengthens women’s financial power by creating physical and digital platforms that enable members to learn from each other’s experiences and exchange best practices, establishing a new model for women’s financial experiences. It also provides insights into effective strategies, emerging challenges, and innovative solutions that can be applied across various markets. The alliance also represents a space for meaningful collaboration, where financial institutions can exchange ideas, explore partnerships, and work together to advance women’s financial inclusion.

It’s worth noting that in 2024, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank launched “Haya” package, specially designed for women, offering banking and non-banking benefits , this package is a part of its financial inclusion initiatives, designed to meet their needs and provide comprehensive support. It also hosts workshops for women to promote financial literacy. Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank also introduced “Tomouh” package, specifically designed to support and empower entrepreneurs, including women, recognizing their vital role in the economy. It also aims to expand its support for women-led businesses through capacity-building initiatives and building a strong community that enables them to connect, learn, and grow.

Digital banking services are a key pillar of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank’s development plan, playing a pivotal role in facilitating access to financial services, such as opening bank accounts via mobile app. This service aims to provide convenience to customers and remove traditional barriers, enabling women to open bank accounts and manage their finances from the comfort of their homes.

On a professional level, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank is making continuous efforts to foster a diverse and inclusive work environment, ensuring equal opportunities for all employees. These efforts have borne fruit with the bank being named “Best Employer in Egypt” for 2025, an achievement that reflects its commitment to best practices in employee development and providing a suitable work environment characterized by equal growth opportunities for all employees.

Women currently represent 34% of the bank’s workforce, with approximately 23% of them occupying senior management positions. Selection and promotion processes are based on talent, performance, and fairness, ensuring that opportunities are built on merit. ADCB also has joined the UN Women program, a set of principles developed by UN Women. These principles provide guidance to organizations on how to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace and society as a whole.
