In line with the principle of equal educational opportunities, the Central Bank of Egypt, in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has launched the National Initiative to Support High Achieving Students in Egyptian Universities, “Future Scholars Scholarship.” The initiative aims to provide equitable access to university education in fields aligned with national priorities, while supporting high-achieving students in completing their higher education within a framework of fairness and equal opportunity. The scholarship offers comprehensive support covering tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses throughout the duration of study (subject to maintaining scholarship requirements). This ensures a stable academic environment that enables students to focus on their studies and build successful professional futures, free from financial burdens that might otherwise hinder their academic progress.

The scholarship targets outstanding Egyptian students who are graduates of public secondary schools or STEM public schools in the same academic year, with particular emphasis on the most underprivileged groups across the country. This includes beneficiaries of the Takaful and Karama program, students exempted from tuition fees, persons with disabilities, as well as students from Upper Egypt and border governorates—reflecting the initiative’s commitment to achieving educational equity and reducing regional development disparities.

The scholarship is based on clear and transparent selection criteria to ensure fairness and merit. Applicants must be Egyptian nationals, graduates of public schools, and demonstrate academic excellence qualifying them for the faculties included in the scholarship. They must also have a good conduct record, with no prior disciplinary actions or academic dismissal, must not be concurrently receiving another scholarship, and must submit all required documents and sign official declarations. Any inaccurate information may result in disqualification.

The scholarship covers key disciplines aligned with national priorities, including computer science and artificial intelligence, engineering, medicine, applied arts, veterinary medicine, nursing, tourism and hospitality, archaeology, agriculture, and arts and design. This ensures alignment between educational outcomes and labor market needs, as well as national development plans. In some cases, shortlisted candidates may be invited for in-person or virtual interviews to ensure the selection of the most deserving applicants in accordance with established criteria.

The first application cycle was made available online through the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research platform from September 9 to 14, 2025, with shortlisted candidates announced on September 18. Continued eligibility for the scholarship is contingent upon maintaining academic excellence and adherence to the academic program throughout the study period.

The official website has been launched:

https://futurescholars.mohesr.gov.eg

It aims to promote community-based funding for the scholarship by outlining available donation channels, including contributions from within Egypt and abroad via the unified bank account (7070) across all Egyptian banks, or through the InstaPay application under the name “Future Scholars Scholarship 7070” (Future Scholars Fund 7070). Applications for the second cycle will also be opened through the same website.

The “Future Scholars Scholarship” represents a unique opportunity for outstanding students, transforming their academic achievements into a real chance to reshape their lives and the lives of their families. It empowers them to actively contribute to the country’s social and economic development, affirming that academic excellence should not be limited by financial means, but rather translated into fair and sustainable opportunities for the future.
